Our Chapter GB Roots!

A group of 15 + people were meeting on Thursday nights initiated by Mike Hubert.  This group was a spin off from another motorcycling organization and had been biking together for years. They did not want their friends to ride off into the sunset and lose contact with each other.

Jon Lovlein had heard of Gold Wing Touring Association (GWTA), searched the web for more information and felt it met our needs.  He shared information with the group on what GWTA was all about.

Pat Williams was asked to contact GWTA Wisconsin State Directors, Sherri and Jeryl Vonderheid the evening of February 11, 2007. On February 15, 2007, Jeryl attended a dinner meeting, with Gerry Brix, a current GWTA member. There were questions and answers and then an opportunity to become members. About twenty of our group joined that night. We have over sixty members now and we continue to grow.

In the following weeks we elected Pat Williams as Chapter Director. Lynn Lovlein volunteered to become Treasurer. We were officially a chapter.

Pat asked Jon Lovlein to be Assistant Chapter Director and he accepted. Anna Verber volunteered to be our Social Secretary, Marcus Baudhuin volunteered to be our chapter Educator and Dean Belanger volunteered to be Our Public Relations Coordinator.

Suggestions were made for a chapter letter(s) designation and a name for the new chapter. In subsequent meetings we voted and became Chapter GB and the N.E.W. Riders. N.E.W. stands for North East Wisconsin but we also looked at it as a “NEW” beginning.  We have members not only from Green Bay but Sturgeon Bay, Shawano, Abrams, Sobieski, Oconto, Sheboygan, Glenbeulah, New Franken, Casco, Kiel, Peshtigo, Greenleaf, Appleton, Kaukauna, Stangelville and even Lake Linden, MI. We wanted a name that would reflect Northeast Wisconsin.

Chapter GB welcomes any bikes to ride with us.
