Stick Ride
This ride began several years before by Rick Verber. Each year Rick setup a ride when all the leaves fell from the trees, thus the Stick Ride. He had done this for as long as I can remember back to the other organization we belonged to. Because it has always been cold and he worked, they were scheduled for a weekend. This year however we lost Rick one week earlier to cancer and Ken and Kathy decided to keep up the tradition, asking me to put out an e-mail to everyone. Because of the short notice, and being on a Wednesday, only 5 of us were able to make it. We were all dressed for the cold and some of us were plugged in along with hand warmers and heated seats. Fortunately the lowest temperature I recorded, at one point along Lake Michigan, was 42 degrees. It was and is a very nice ride that Rick lead several times, only to change some of the roadways.
Pat Williams (State Director) remembered his camera and was able to capture these 4 photos before his battery died. (I forgot mine.) At least we have these to share with you.
