GWTA Christmas Party
December 4, 2011
At the WoodsIt sure was nice to see everyone at this years Christmas party! There was a short meeting prior to eating. Steve Wicker, Chapter Director, introduced Pat Williams, State Director, who gave a very brief message updating us on the national raffle ticket sale. Steve then told us that Mike & Janice Thompson have stepped up to fill the vacant position of Assistant Chapter Directors. Yeah! There is no doubt they are a valuable addition to our chapter. On a sadder note we learned that Tommy Thomson is being treated for cancer. That came as a shock to many of us because Tom has been such a strong and vibrant man. Prayers to him and Cheryl that he returns quickly to his old self! Also, Markus Baudhuin, who is also a very active member, has had foot surgery. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery to him as well. The mileage contest trophies were presented and here are the stats from Markus Baudhuin who could not attend..... There were only 13 people signed up for this contest, with a combined total of 170,409 miles traveled. Carl VanDera won a trophy for the most miles traveled from April 1 to October 1, with 17,856! His Alaska trip put him over the top! Within those numbers was the closest to average miles with 170,409 total miles of all who entered. That was divided by 13 and Roy Johnson won the "traveling" trophy with 8,214 miles. Congratulation guys! We hope to have more participate next year...
As food was being served to our tables Bob Meyer led us with a prayer of thanksgiving. Along with good food and friends it doesn't get any better than that! When everyone was done eating we all played Dirty Bingo. That game always brings so much laughter and a lot of fun which concluded the party. Thank you to everyone who attended making this another successful gathering. We miss all of our Snow Birds down in Florida. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
Clear skies, Steve & Sue Wicker
